    Another "thinking of buying" thread

Hello! I currently have a SOLO2 and I'm soon getting cable so I need a box with a cable tuner. I'm thinking I may as well go for 4K but I can't see the point if there is currently no 4K content. Is there any 4K content on 28.2e or on VM and if not, can anyone explain the benefits of a 4K box please? Can I stream HEVC/x265 with Atmos audio passthrough for example?

    Many thanks

I would hold off buying a sat box for the moment the sky's could be going dark on 28.2 really soon

Oh dear. SoloSE on VM may be better option.

There is plenty more sats to watch with a motorised dish with better content than all the constant repeats on UK sat

I did have a big motorised dish but I just want the simplicity these days. Also, my other half gives me a bit of earache when it comes to this sort of thing.

Don't overlook the possibilities of a toroidal dish, such as the Wavefrontier one. Mine captures satellites from 28.5E to 15W, which includes almost all of the useful European ones, and with multi-port LNBs it allows reception/recording of multiple satellites simultaneously and independently on one or more receivers. And you don't have to wait for anything to motor when changing channels. The dual reflector arrangement makes it possible to crowd LNBs close enough together to resolve satellites just 2 degrees apart - such as 7.0E and 9.0E.
