    New box advice

    Hi all,

I've had a VU+ Solo2 for a few years now and it's been great. Recently I moved home to a cable only property so need to replace my box.
I'm leaning toward a VU+ Uno 4K because I've been happy with my current box and I like the idea of FBC tuners and keeping the same remote. I also like that the signal is split internally. I'd have to use an external HDD but that's not the end of the world I guess.

I've narrowed down my search to the following

    VU+ Uno 4K
    Mutant HD51
    Octagon SF4008

I'm interested to hear your thoughts and recommendations before pulling the trigger. Will be buying from WOS of course.

    Thanks,
    AM

I,ve just upgraded my box to 4K box.

I narrowed my choice down to 2.

    Uno 4K and SF4008

In the end i chose the SF4008, I did not need extra tuners as 3 is enough for me.
The SF4008 also offers internat HDD support.
I have 2xsat and 1 t2,c tuners, which can be switched over to make 2t2,c and 1 sat if needed.
The sf4008 is just finding its feet and iam finding it an excellent box.
I tried openatv 1st, as openvix was not ready at the time of purchase.
Openatv was/is a good image, But i,ve been using openvix for years
    And find it really comfortable.

I don,t think you will be disappointed with any you have short listed.

    Good Luck

Go with your initial instinct and that is the Vu+ Uno 4K. No brainer especially with the FBC Cable tuner facility. You can even buy good branded 128gb or 256gb usb flash drives these days, so I would be tempted with the latter (256gb usb flash drive).

The Vu+ Uno 4K is a great receiver, quick, quality build & great remote. Downside with any new 4K receiver is you have to use Oscam.

I had the same dilemma and chose the mutant.

I do love the mutant, However coming from a VU box the build quality (material) of Vu is far greater and the remote is also much nicer.

HD51 and SF4008 take internal HDDs and both have Front Lcd displays.

    All good receivers though

Technically both HD51 and SF4008 are superb, each offering innovation and superb pictures at reasonable prices.
Apart from offering internal HDD's, the SF4008 has the better of the remotes and S2X tuners, whilst the HD51 utilises the EMMC better. not only offering the capability of 4 flashed images and a Multiboot & couch flash facility, but recently a Kodi swap file to go with the new Kodi availability for those images that support the features. (note: this is not the traditional swap file for some limited memory receivers)

Also both Mut@nt and Octagon continue to provide not just super support but continue to enhance these offerings.
    Gigablue Quad 4K & UE 4K
    .........FBC Tuners:
    ------------------> GT-Sat unicable LNB to 1.5M dish(28.2E)
------------------> Gigablue unicable LNB to 80 cm dish(19.2E)
    .......................> FBC & DVB-S2X into 90cm dish (27.5W) Opticum robust Unicable LNB
    AX HD61, Edision Osmio 4K+, Zgemma H9Combo, Octagon SF8008 , gbtrio4k, h9se using unicable ports

Thanks very much for your input guys, much appreciated.
With the Octagon SF4008, would I have to split the cable externally or is that done internally like the VU+ boxes?

Looking at the tuners you would split the cable externally.

I'm finding it hard to make a decision! I've got one, hopefully last, question on this. Can iptv be setup so the channels are listed in the tv guide on all of these models? On my Solo 2 I have to open a plugin to access them.
    Thanks very much guys.

If Cable is the top priority then you could just add USB Cable Tuners to the existing box

IPTV channels can be added to any E2 Bouquet using E-Channelizer or DBE, if you regularly run ABM you may want to create IPTV channels in a separate Bouquet.

I've been waiting so long for models that never materialised and had enough. So I just pulled the trigger on the Octagon SF4008 with twin cable and single satellite configuration. Can't wait to get it all set up tomorrow!
