I'm using a modified version of IM, but that is my own choice, and if I brick my receiver then I have to face that consequence.

When you have a green flashing light, you can just update via Menu > Setup > Software Update and update the image that way.

To be honest Andy thats a fair bit different from what you said above and hope you can see how I was a little bit confused by what you were saying about the blue button restore. .

I'm aware that the Arm receivers cant be couch flashed.

Il stick to USB flashing my HD51 until there is a formal change to be couch flashing procedure.

Ignore this. May have got my wires crossed.
this is the correct way ive always flashed my solo 4k by this method, as we all know things get broken sometimes when updating ota or im, use the usb port at the front press the little button to the left it is called power button dont get confused about the blue circul.

How long should it take on solo4k for the flashing process to take? Been saying flashing image on front screen for about 5 minutes, feels like something has gone wrong here?

No mate, it will be the USB. I can't for the life of me find my reliable one lol.. It started the process but then got stuck, tried a few times but same outcome so have now stopped don't want to damage box.

As long as it doesn't touch the boot loader I can't see why this would be unsafe. The USB flashing can then be a backup if it doesn't work.

Can anyone confirm if the boot loader is safe?

On my solo 4k open ATV 5.3 to 6.0 couch flashing appeared to work for me although did restart to use a flashing utill!! However it never actually flashed the new image. when it rebooted I was still on the old image!!! I was still on the latest 5.3. USB flashing worked though.

If you have to use a Usb Couch flashing will never work as you must get up to press the power button behind the flap to start the flashing process. though deep standby is handy so you don't miss the flash prompt. you press that power button once to power up again when the flashing prompt comes up.
