    2 x dvbs or 2 x dvbt

    Hi

I have the ability to go with a sat or cable box. What would all you guys go with? Also what is the benefit of going for 2 cable dvb t tuners? I thought with cable you only needed one tuner connected and it could record multiple channels? Is this not the case

Each tuner allows you to access a frequency/transponder. Applies to all modes.

Only difference with cable/terrestrial is that you can split the signal. Subject to signal power level drops.

Do you need a splitter to split it or is this done by the tuner itself when a recording is started on another freq

You will need a splitter or loop cable. Every "input port/connection" on tuner must have a signal wire connected.

It is worth pointing out that tuners like the Vu twin tuner module have an internal splitter, they only have one input port/connection. Same applies to FBC tuners, they only have one connection per physical tuner.

Just for clarification: DVB-T (or T2) is for terrestrial (aerial) and DVB-C (or C2 in future) is for cable. Some are hybrid or combo tuners and have them both together but this is not always so. This info may avoid some frustration after buying tuner and discovering later that it doesn't do what was expected and then swearing seller to hell because device does not work. For satellite DVB-S (or S2) people do not make such mistakes usually.

I'm still confused about this. Can someone point me in the direction or advise me of the best 2 x dvb/c boxes? I want to be able to record one channel and watch another. Can't see that many options most are single dvb /c

Look at the Technomate TM-Nano-SE M2 PLUS Enigma 2 Linux HD PVR TRIPLE TUNER Combo 1x DVB-S/S2 + 2x DVB-C Receiver
A steal at £138 - 2 cable tuners and you'll have a spare sat tuner just in case.

Vu+ Uno 4K has the FBC Cable tuner and that gives you excellent possibilities. Basically giving you 8 tuners with one cable. Record, record, record, record, record. hehe. You need to learn Oscam with this 4K receiver though, but superb value for money if you ask me.

With that box is there any requirements like an fbc sat tuner needs a specific lnb. I'm interested in getting one then adding a usb sat tuner looks like a bargain at £229
