Update to 4.2.030 stopped video playback

I installed 4.2.029 via USB because the kernel had changed and I couldn't do a software update via the menu.

After flashing I used the restore wizard and then use Filezilla to ftp the Sky Q V1.7 skin so I could install it.

After installing the skin and restarting everything seemed fine so I checked what kernel and vix version. I then did a software update via the menu and it updated to 4.2.030 and then updated all packages.

I then tried to playback a previously recorded program. The video player loaded and showed a black screen with the video status along the bottom. No video/sound playback. I had to switch off the box (NOT with the power button) to get out of the video playback problem.

I've zipped the logs since I updated this morning to help with analysing the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Update:

Both times I have powered on from standby the box crashes. Attached are the crash logs.

In the meantime, I'm going to flash via USB again without restoring anything and then systematically go through each thing to try and track down were I went wrong.

I've now had to go back to 4.2.028 and kernel 4.0.1 to get the video working. I tried the two newer versions with and without restoring settings and plugins and neither worked.

I'll wait and see what happens with a future release.

What Unit are you using and sounds like 4.2.030 may have issues....

So I wanted to try a couple of other skins but I CAN'T!!

The kernel has changed and if I update to be able to download plugins it wrecks my box.

It crashes every time I wake it from standby and the video doesn't play.

So if anyone has a solution or has managed to see what was going on in the crash logs I would really like to hear from them.

    Thanks

Post #8 had a solution but in the end I decided to wait for 4.2.031 to try as it will hopefully have the fix incorporated into it.
