    Vu+ Solo4K

    Hello everyone
I,ve posted this here, Instead of the Solo4K thread, to get an unbiased answer hopefully.

Is the Solo4K past it as some say, Or does it still hold its place as a good reciever,(did it ever)
Some say it was released to early, Or the Uno4K has a better chipset.

So is the Solo 4K worth the outlay for someone who just wants a simple reciever.
Does it produce good/excellent picture "freesat/freeview"
    Is its upscaling good.

    Cheers

I have a Solo4k and I beleive it's a very good box but to use it to it's full potential you need to use it with a Unicable LNB to use the FBC tuners which I don't

    1) Tell us what you've heard (good and bad).

    2) When you say simple receiver tell us exactly the features you need.

    Hello Huevos

Simple reciever to me = non motorised, 2 tuners for sat at 28east and a t2/c tuner.

What i,ve read on this forum and others.
    Brought out too early.
A little buggy (24fps), Patched up with fixes to work correctly(or are all boxes done the same)
Cheaper boxes being realeased with better chipsets.

The thing is i like Vu+, I had a Uno a few years ago which never let me down.( it used to power a 1mtr dish no problem)
And on paper the Solo 4K looks like a very good box, The simple way to add a hdd also helps.
Which confused me a little hearing the things above and i know that someone who owns one
Is not going to put them down.
    Cheers

    Hi I have duo2 and solo4k
you get what you pay for, they don't get much better
i use the latest vix with no problems as our friend above says not everyone sets them up to their full potential.
these guys work hard to get rid of any problems on new boxes.

I agree with all of the above.

I've had a solo 4k for over a year now, i think its a great receiver. Its a good size with a nice screen on the front. The 1500mhz chip set is very fast and running kodi 17 all seems good. When you get the correct configs for oscam working its lighting fast at decoding channels. I do not use open vix as I never seem to get on well with it, i am curently using a less well known image in openspa and I think its a great image. I don't have a 4k tv or use unicable but the 4k channels downscaled to 1080p on my sony 47" tv look fantastic.

I don't know of any current issue with 24 fps, or any other Solo 4K specific bug. If there people should post about them so they can be fixed.

And there is no necessity for a Unicable LNB. Having one just means the box can record a few extra channels at the same time.

There is fast forward / rewind bug with the Solo4K, it has been reported many many times.
The Ultimo 4K does not have the bug.

    Hi
I have a Solo 4K and agree it is a very impressive box.
The quality of the video is excellent and with the VIX image is really easy to setup.
My only downside to the box is the ARM processor - not from a speed point of view but because it cannot use cccam setup.
Have to use Oscam and I still am having problems getting it to run smoothly.
