[4.2.027] Xtrend. Problems with USB tuners

Couch flash 4.2.026 to 4.2.027, restored settings, auto-rebooted, but now stuck on countryside view.

Probably 95% thru' the boot process, telnet ok.

Edit: trying usb flash with no settings restore.

That has created a working system, but a settings and plugins restore with an Ethernet connection hangs when rebooting.

I had similar issue with some earlier version (21 to 22 or something) with Vu Zero. Just powered it off from switch and then it worked and not stuck anymore. Been so ca 1 month already.

The couch flash only tried to restore settings, as there was no internet established at that time.

Could the kernel update on the ET10K be significant?

    I'll try that this afternoon.

I've just tried a settings restore without wifi rtl8192cu enabled in the settings, or plugged in via usb, but no joy.

I've just rebooted without a Sundtek usb tuner connected, and back up and running ok, so I'll remove it from 026, flash 027 with settings restore, and then try to install the tuner from scratch.

That seems to be the problem. I have same problem with Sundtek tuners in ET10000 and Duo2.

I've tried a few things, but the Sundtek control centre always says that the driver is already installed and up to date.

Is there any way of getting rid of the driver, short of doing a fresh install?

This doesn't look like a software issue.
There seems to be a hardware issue, possibly not enough power?

    Which tuner is that?
If that is DVB-S/S2 be sure you have the AC Adapter plugged in.

usb 3-1.4: usbfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed cmd mediasrv rqt 64 rq 2 len 4 ret -71

-71 means the device has disconnected from the system.

possible reasons for disconnecting (which I might think of):
    a) tuner requires too much power (eg. AC adapter not connected if you have a passive satellite system (no active multiswitch in between))
    b) the tuner is connected to a passive USB hub, both overload the usb port (=the port cannot deliver enough power)
    c) hardware issue of the settopbox or USB stick
    d) misconfigured USB kernel settings (this might affect all USB devices)
    e) maybe some misconfigured standby behaviour in the kernel (this issue has been reported in our forum, after disabling USB standby (which has nothing to do with our driver) the device did not disconnect anymore) - this would clearly be a linux kernel bug but a workaround has been proposed (there's no workaround active for this on settopboxes at the moment).

You might join our chat http://chat.sundtek.de to have a closer look at it.

It's a "SUNDTEK USB TUNER CABLE TERRESTRIAL HD DVB-C/T/T2" and has been working fine for over a year until 4.2.027, and works when reverting back to 4.2.026.
