Jailbroken Iphone 3GS not booting after Erase all content and settings

As the title, i've tried to Erase all content and settings on my jailbroken Iphone 3GS, but now it wont boot. Only is to restore through Itunes, but Itunes will only give me the option of restoring OS4.2, I want to restore OS4.1 so it can still be jailbroken.

Is there a way of restoring OS4.1 without using Itunes?

It can be done with itunes.
You download an image of 4.1 from web and you can force the iphone to use the download as a recovery in itunes.
I will try find the site for you but last time I looked there were loads of them.

Actually it was 4.0.1 I was looking at at the time... Will check if same for 4.1.

There are also rumours around about JB for 4.2.1 due.

You need to confirm operation of this.
I see a few comments about not working to install going from 4.2 to 4.1.

This Iphone has never been on OS4.2, highest its ever been is 4.1. So in effect I'm restoring what was on it. I hope .....

boss use tiny umbrella to get a .shsh and then let itunes updates to 4.2 then downgrade it to 4.1

thats how i did my sisters ipod touch 4.1

I can't get nothing from it unless I restore an OS, its not booting.

dont worry tiny umbrella will pickit up and make a .shsh file as long as the phone comes on to the point it asked to plug into itunes

did you have cydia installed as if you did there is a 90% chance that its in the cydia repo already

look in the cydia repo with your serial number to see if your iphone has a .shsh stored

i'm just trying to find it my brother knows it but the lazy git is still in bed

in the mean time try the tiny umbrella route all you do is double click tiny umbrella and conect your iphone

then once the phone comes up as connected does not need to be started just nneds to be connected then press create .shsh and thats it

I just read somewhere about restoring the .ipsw with Itunes 9.2. Going to give that a go.

i'm just gonna recreate a .shsh on my phone so i can see the procedure to do it then report back
