Longitude input for usuals

I am in the process of setting up a motorised dish with my vu+ solo2. Just a quick question really, i am setting up using usuals and need to enter my lat and long which i have. But my longitude is -2.9914 and my latitude is 53.1622 how do you enter the minus or dont you. And do o keep the direction as east and north? My thought was that to turn the minus to a plus would be to change direct, therefore 2.9914 west?
