Newbie Question for Portuguese Satellite Reception

    Hi Everyone,

I have been reading a lot over the past two years about the migration of SKY and BBC channels to a new satellite which means that these cannot be received in southern Portugal without a large dish. We have inherited a 1.2m dish on our house from the previous owners and were looking into a new satellite tv receiver, there are only really five terrestrial channels in Portugal which are fairly poor most of the time. Whilst I realise that I may not get BBC and other UK free to air channels, I was wondering if we could receive any other English broadcasts before taking the plunge and buying a receiver, cabling, etc.

Additionally, if there may be something worth watching, what may be a good basic starter set-up and should we invest in a larger dish? I do not require 4k, or even HD, but it could be nice.

I am based in the UK so taking any kit out to Portugal is not an issue, although it will be a total leap in the dark as to what we could expect or even receive.

    Regards, Jason

Nos & Meo arent bad packages in all honesty. A lot of channels have an English Soundtrack.

The two packages are shown on the url below

You may be able to get some of the UK terrestrial channels off 27.5w although how long this will last for is anybodies guess. It is encrypted but certain receivers can open it relatively easy.
