Newbie questions

Hello,

I am looking to get rid of dish network and am looking for a replacement. I have a Roku media streamer and have found that live TV works until someone starts using the WiFi then the stream gets choppy, everything else on it works fine.

My main questions are;

1. What would be a good starting satellite system to choose from, cheaper the better?

2. Can I modify either the HD dish or the SD dish I have from Dish network?

3. Do the basic channels come in, ABC, NBC, etc?

Do you know of any active US forums that treat newbies the same as experts? The ones I have posted in have ignored my questions. I would see 50+ views but no responses.

Maybe avsforum.com? Not sat specific like Openvix but does have a section.
