Using Alternatives - Viewing HD as default but Recording only in SD

    Hi,

I can't playback Recirdings of HD channels without the box crashing. I can view the channels fine though for live TV. I can however record and playback SD recordings fine.

Is there a way (maybe using alternatives) that I can keep my favourite bouquet with HD channels but when I select record it will record the SD Version of the channel.

I'm thinking if I use alternatives and possibly tweak the DVB/c/s priorities for recording I could do this. Btw I am using freesat and Freeview - so want to use the Freeview terrestrial SD as default for recording.

    Cheers

You don't say what the box is, but it shouldn't crash playing back HD transport streams unless they are corrupt, you can't automatically do what you want, you would have to set all your recordings from the sd channels via the EPG, I personally would post a bit more detail and try to get to the root of the problem.
P.s. I had a problem with my box locking up trying to view or record HD freeview and I have a fix for it....
