Unhappy Trouble configuring edision mini os.

    Hi there everyone,

today I received my first linux satellite box and was hoping to be able to plug the aerial cable that was currently in my virgin satellite box into my new edision os mini and have it pick up the signal.

However when I do an automatic scan during the set up phase it doesn't recognize it.

I did a little research and found that virgin media doesn't use satellite dishes. I'm assuming this is the problem?

This is the box I ordered: http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/...-mini-dvb-s-s2

I see that the edision mini comes in different models. Would I need to purchase one of the others?

If I did would I still be able to detect all all satellite channels?

    thanks in advanced!

You need a cable receiver to use your Virgin cable feed. The receiver you bought is for satellite connection only and is unsuitable (unless you install a dish). You need this one from WoS - http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/...-mini-dvb-c-t2

I thought that was the case, just wanted to hear it from someone who knew what they was talking about.

    Thank you for the help.

But... Before you start trying to get your box swapped over you will only receive about 8 free channels by connecting to your VM feed. To get any more you will need a way to serve your subscription details to the box.
