I think you set your http password when you first log on to browser after activating http.

If I can remember how I did mine I'll get back to you. In the meantime someone may post the answer.

It does not like copy/paste. You have to type out "root" and your password letter by letter.

If that's what you're doing and still can't login - can't think of any other answer at the moment.

Somewhere on here (actually http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...l=1#post385482) I confirmed a report by outrage_uk that I couldn't authenticate as root. I could authenticate using a non-root id and password.
I didn't look into why this happened as at the time I didn't have an environment set-up to rebuild the enigma2 binary.

No I don't copy and paste it. I always type it in. The funny thing is that when I turn it on it doesn't even ask me to create one. There is no point in turning this on if you can't login. And if you leave it off then anyone can get access to it.

Sounds like you havent set a root root password yet

using vu control centre or DCC or Putty

you will need your Box ipaddress which can be found menu, information, network.
    user root
pass [can be left blank in VUCC] [DCCd requires a password at all times, even if one hasn't been set, dreambox will do for now]

    Code:
In telnet type passwd (press return)
    enter required password (press return)
enter required password again (press return)
    password now set!

You have to create a root password using telnet. There are instructions on the forum somewhere,

telnet in to box, logon as root with a blank password. Issue command passwd to create a password.
