    Receiver with hardware transcoding

I know Duo2 does it but which other receiver does and has as good support as Duo2/Solo2/VU's? I'm in hunt possibly in used market for receiver that has transcoding function and Open webif support. FYI I'm currently using solo2. Thanks in advance.

After some looking around, I've now choice for Xtrent ET10k (£239) , GiGaBlue HD Quad + (£200) or VU+Duo2 (£280), all prices without HD. Xtrend ET10K looking like the next box unless someone suggests either save more and get Vu Duo2 or save money for HD Quad+. Anyone knows the CPU used in GigaBlue and Xtrend?

Also what was the sale price for Golden LX3?

I paid £215.99 for my LX3 which came with three DVB-S tuners.

I think the Duo2, LX3 and ET10k are all the 7424 / 7425 - all dual 1.3GHz. I have read some sites saying they are the 7424 or 7425 though - not sure if there are any differences between the two?

The Gigablue I think is the 7356 which is a dual 1.3GHz without transcoding.

Gigablue is software transcoding. Best value imo is the HD2400 http://www.world-of-satellite.co.uk/...er_name=hd2400 Software support for linux kernel more advanced than others.

At the time of writing of this original thread / discussion above, the Edision OS Mega was not available. I have a Vu+ Solo2, and also the Miraclebox Premium Twin+ Plus 3x DVB-S2.

Can you experts please indicate why the OS Mega does not appear to do transcoding with its high end processor please?

Also, what is the best IOS player (apart from browser) to use with OS Mega as the VU+ HD Player only works with VU products.

Thanks for all of the help.

Thanks @twol. I see. So the BCM73565 may be capable or is not capable of hardware transcoding like the Vu+Solo 2 chip BCM7356 - seem to be same chip family difference being the number five at end of the Edision OS Mega Chip?

Where is software transcoding set in the ViX image, OR simple is it not a setting that is accessable?

Last question relates to the best player for IOS for the Edision range as VU+HD Player only available on my VU+Solo2

Transcoding is supposed to be on its way. Try Blackbox pro app.
