    remotestreamchannel plugin epg?

    hi
i have been using the plugin with my set up and it works pretty much flawlessly with hd channels streaming perfectly
i dont really have a gripe with it but i was wondering if there is any way to pull the epg from the host box along with the stream?
i do get some now epg details and some channels show now & next only.

    my setup is:

room 1 main box duo2 1tb hdd with 2xdvbc/t2 tuners (cable reciever)

room 2 remote box is solo2 1tb hdd 2 (sat reciever with no lnb input so i am using it solely as slave box with the plugin)

both boxes are on local network

    both boxes running hades 18

i use the epg refresh plugin on the duo2 to populate the full vm epg. this plugin switches to the data stream channe pvr epg and this works fine.
obviously i cannot do this on the solo2 as it has sat tuners so i was just wondering if there was another way to view the full epg from the duo2 on the remote box.

    any help appreciated

Load EPG.DAT from Duo2 on the second box. Save it first so you know it is up-to-date.

i have tried to load the epg from the duo2 but it doesnt apper to do anything and i still cannot get a full epg.

i have epg.dat in internal flash on the duo2.
on the solo2 i have epg location set as media/autofs/root/VUDUO2.

maybe i need to store the epg in a different location on the duo2?

i also tried ftp'ing the up to date epg.dat file from the duo2 and put it into root/etc/enigma2 and set the epg location on the solo2 to internal flash but that didnt work either even after restarting and re-loading a couple of times.
so maybe there is another setting on the solo2 which is preventing the epg from loading?
i have enabled virgin epg on both boxes.

sorry if this is appearing to get complicated but it isnt overly important i was just curious if anyone was using a similar setup with full epg working.

Never store EPG.DAT on the internal flash. Put it either in the root directory of the HDD or the root directory of the USB.

thanks huevos but i am almost sure i read on here that preferred epg location for the duo2 was internal flash as this meant faster channel zapping and loading as opposed to usb or hdd and the duo2 has plenty of flash memory for it,
ill have a play at moving it around and see if i get better results.

Store/download your EPG on your Duo2 HDD.
Mount the Duo2 HDD as HDD replacement on the Solo2.
Set the Solo2 to only read the EPG on the now mounted Duo2 HDD.

Once you have this working as expected, remap your mounts & point your EPG to its new mount point on your Solo2 if needs be.

As Huevos said: never store epg.dat in flash. Occasionally it grows fast and fills the flash.
And zapping has nothing to do with it: the file is only read on starting E2.

    hi guys
thanks for the input. i have changed the epg location on the duo2 to the hdd and it is fine on that box however i am struggling to get it to load on the solo2.
i have mounted the duo2 hdd on the solo2 as per the screenshot.
you can see the settings in screenshot 2.
i have also included the epg setup screen and the graphical multi epg screen to show that it still isnt populating on the solo2.
perhaps i am doing something basically wrong as i am not really that well versed on linux mounts.

Now that you have the Duo2 HDD mounted as replacement HDD on the Solo2, if you use /media/hdd/ as your EPG location & reboot, does it populate then?

i have changed the location to /media/hdd but it still wont load. i was previously using/media/autofs/harddiskVUDUO2 so i thought that was the problem.
after having changed to /media/hdd i can see the epg.dat file is there along with the directories for movie locations etc.
i can see the epg.dat file also on the harddisk of the duo2 in the same location.
i have tried several times to load/save epg on the solo2 but it still wont load even after several reboots.
i have also re-downloaded the bouquets from the duo2 using the remotestreamconvert plugin but i just cannot get it to work sorry

You shouldn't be using the save option on the Solo2. You seem to be saving an unpopulated EPG & then reloading that.
Populate the EPG on your Duo2, then read that EPG on the Solo2.

Using the remotestreamconvert plugin again at this stage maes no difference.

sorry to be a nuisance but i really cannot get this to work.
i have tried everything suggested but no luck.

i have done a fresh flash on the solo2 and proceeded to mount the duo2 hdd but i dont think it is mounting as hdd replacement properly and therefore cant read the epg.dat file from the duo2.
i tried it as nfs and cifs share but neither worked.
i have set epg location as /media/hdd but it seems that when it tries to load the epg data it is looking in the solo2 hdd instead.

it wasnt that important but now i have got so far in to it i dont like giving up.

currently i have deleted all mounts on the solo2.
there has been a fresh instal of hades 18 and i have installed the plugin remotestream and downloaded the bouquets which are all streaming perfectly.

maybe i would have better luck if i used a usb stick on the duo2 for epg and use that as hdd replacement to see if that doesnt clash with the solo2 hdd?
    thanks

as an update i have managed to get it working.
i did a fresh install of hades 18 on both boxes and have the epg.dat file stored in media/usb on the duo2.
in the epg settings on the duo2 i have set it to automatically save and refresh every 24 hours.
i have set the epg location on the solo2 as /media/autofs/VUDUO2 and have mounted the directory media/usb of the duo2 on the solo2 (as nfs)
i have set the epg on the solo2 noot to automacilly save but to automatically refresh every 24 hours.
and it appears to be working well and is able to read from that location. i can see the full multi epg on the solo2.
perhaps there was a mount conflicyt between the boxes which was causing it not to work.

as a footnote i think this plugin is really brilliant as i can share the tuner of my main box (duo2) in another room and achieve glitch free even on hd channels which is what i mainly watch.
getting full epg on the second box (solo2) is a real bonus and makes it even better.
