    Crossepg crashes on scheduled download

GuYs having a problem with the crossepg on a scheduled download it crashes every time, but on a manual update it works fine. Even tried it there changing the time from 6.00am until 19.30 so i could see what was happening and it came up with "your epg is about to download then the countdown for 30 secs then it began to run, got to read titles 11.81mb and froze up with just the vix symbol rotating in the corner really slowly.

I am running vix apollo build 77 on a vu duo with the crossepg being stored on a 2gb pendrive in rear of unit.

I am only updating Sky UK Open TV under the Open TV providers tab

    Any help greatly appreciated thanks

    Hi Dazzler,
I'd first try a more recent image build. Apollo 77 is a tad dated.
I recommend the latest "VIX HD" version for the Duo (I have the same box).
Then, if still no luck get back to us.

    Dazzler:
Also, within CrossEPG you'll see "Providers Start Order".
Look in there. It should say SKY Open TV.
If anything else is listed, make sure that you move SKY Open TV to the top of the list.

    Hi Mate

Yes I have exactly the same problem, freezes every morning when updating the EPG, mine gets to about 3.8mb then freezes, I have several receivers I look after for friends and several are doing exactly the same thing.

I have a Vu Duo 1 and a Vu Solo, I have re-flashed with the latest image then tried the EPG's path set to a USB Flash Drive and also on the Vu Duo to the internal 500GB Hard Drive, have mounted and initialised drives so the drive paths are set correctly and still get exactly the same problem, if you set to reload the EPG on reboot again it will freeze or the Icon in top left hand corner will rotate extremely slowly and even after half an hour does not disappear and the receiver wont respond to any remote commands.

Very strange as they were all working fine and over the last 10-14 days have developed this issue. I have a Vu Duo 2 myself which is on Apollo 37 and that updates every morning without any problem, path is set to USB Flash Drive, its Multisat but only have it set to update Astra 2 28.2, each time I can pull up the EPG without any problem, I know Apollo 37 is an old version but as I say its working at the moment, I will flash with the OpenVix HD latest and see how that behaves.

    Cheers
    JB

You need a swap file with the old Duo1.

    Hi all,
I suggest deleting the EPG.dat file and then setup the EPG afresh. Sounds like your dat file is the problem. They can corrupt and become HUGE in size. Hence laggy problems mentioned.
I have a Duo (Original Version) running Cross EPG via the new VixHD image. Give it a try ...I'd put money on it (if I had any).

You defo need a swap file, especially for a Vu+ Duo and Vu+ Solo, both these boxes lacks memory. Swap file will fix your issues.

    Hi Andy,
Yes, I forgot to mention that I totally agree with the need to enable Swap on the Duo (My one is set to 128MB).
I think Pheonix suggests the dat file delete too.
