    LIRC: Linux Infrared Remote Control

Has anyone managed to install LIRC on a MIPS E2 receiver?

Curiosity. Does your remote not have sufficient keys?

EDIT: Beyond that you'd need to build the kernel modules first.

Quite the opposite actually, some of them have too many.

LIRC would allow us to use any remote on any receiver without depending on manufacturer's drivers.

I got as far as installing it on a Pi as that is well documented.

But is that not because you had a lirc compatible reciever? Who knows what manufacturers use in their boxes.

I'm not sure if this would ever work on our STB's, as keys are recognised by the drivers, not by the OS or E2.

Some config files that may be of use to anyone interested. I missed some technical detail, so they were not accepted. Still functions.
