new sata DVD/CD rewriter only burn dvd media

Hi i have recently bought 2 x sata dvd/CD drives , one sony DRU 870s and a pioneer ... dont have the model to hand ...they are both sata drives ....however i have a problem ... they will only read dvd media ... but are dvd/cd writers etc ...i bought the sony after the pioneer would write cd,s thinking it might be faulty , they are both less than a month old ...so as they write dvd,s i,m guessing its a tick in a box somewere in windows !!! ...i,m using win 7 64bit home ...any one help ?

what burning software are you using

i,ve tried with nero and windows ...but as soon as you put a cd in it spins up an then ejects and says something like please put in some correct media ....or something like that !!!

i use win 7 64 and never seen this error its possible you may want to try a flash of the actual drive software

i know the installer version of nero is ***** and i've never trusted windows burner

try imgburn adsee or alchhol120%

if its happening with 2 different drives it could actually be the windows installation is gotten corrupt
