not necessarily. this ties in with a thread i replied to earlier where a user said that you can install and use CCcam from the stock image of the VU boxes. now i'm not saying this is whats happening here but this is the primary reason boxes such as the dreambox and technomate do not allow the installation or use of softcams etc from within stock images.

yes, I have read that thread, and I am not sure that "cams" are downloadable on the standard image, but like most linux units, they can be "written in"

also, at the moment, there is no real proof, the the sales ban actually exist, but it is an interesting thread, and would have thought that the units would be stopped at source, rather than outlets

also, softcams themselves, are ok, its the use of them that counts

sky uk tried this with dream multi media a few years back but because the stock image was locked down and a "hacked image" had to be written onto the box first before any dubious plugins could be installed. they got away with it.

i think this is just a ploy and retalers are playing it safe by stopping sales. If sky win this battle then retalers will e left with boxes that hwve a low retail vaue, so stopping there sales puts them in a safe no man zone

a simple example is, my car, it runs on petrol, with the various speed limits, when exceeded, who gets done, me, Shell, or ford??

although if the gov had there way, all three of us would be fined
