ok found the lg code to be 0065

    followed these instructions

Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously until the 'TV Power' button on the remote illuminates ok
Enter the Manufactures code i.e LG was 0065 ok
Hold the MUTE button down whilst pointing remote at the TV, until the TV mutes ok
Stop pressing MUTE and check the Volume buttons work ok

To exit press OK plus the STOP key (recording stop) together the 'TV Power' button will go off.

all seem to go ok until i did the final stage in red but tv won't turn off using vu+ remote any ideas

*i take it the stop key is the one to the right of the full red record circle at bottom of remote*

    Hi,
did you try if mute and vol+/. are working? Another possibility is to press power instead of mute until your TV reacts. It is possible that the TV sets have several code sets and in one power works and in the other not. Try again with power.

    ciao

An image update, be it on-line or a flash, will have zero impact on your remote, as there is no communication from the box to the remote
