    Stolen Dreamboxes

    Dream publishes serial numbers

Lünen, 27. October 2010. Dream Multimedia, the leading supplier of Linux-based set-top boxes, has warned consumers not to buy stolen goods. 128 Dreamboxes model DM8000 HD PVR were stolen in a burglary recently. Dream has reported the matter to the authorities, who are investigating.
It can be assumed the stolen Dreamboxes will be offered for sale at particularly attractive prices. Consumers are therefore advised to be wary if they come across offers for a DM8000 at far below the usual market prices.
Here on this page you will find the serial numbers of the stolen Dreamboxes, in order to provide consumers with the greatest possible degree of confidence when purchasing a DM8000 HD PVR.
In addition, Dream advises of possible legal consequences arising from the purchase of stolen goods. Should the police find a stolen Dreambox in the hands of a consumer, the Dreambox must of course be returned, and the consumer risks a criminal prosecution for aiding and abetting a theft by turning a blind eye to the possibility of purchasing stolen goods.
Dream spokesperson Alpaslan Karasu: „We will do everything in our power to ensure the thieves gain no benefit from the stolen Dreamboxes. Specifically, we want to warn consumers not to buy extremely cheap Dreamboxes on offer without first checking against the list of serial numbers of stolen items on our homepage.“

Knowing dream, they'll make sure that if a consumer was found in posession of a stolen dreambox, the book gets thrown at them, even if they had no idea because they don't check the dreambox website all the time...

Altho the possibility of a stolen dreambox is just another reason not to bother with a dreambox hehe

i cant personally see how dream would know you have one of these boxes, unless your daft enough to request support from them for the box.

truthfully if i was offered one i would snap it up rather than one of the many dodgy clones doing the rounds.

strange that user would supply serial numbers. considering the amount of information transmitted with such boxes its astounding that dream cant simply kill such boxes. just shows a new degree of incompetence on top of their rubbish electronic designs

if it was not for those so called rubbish designs you would not have your VU box now would you ? plus the whole enigma 1 and 2 system was a DM creation.

no match. vu is quality. have used dm800 or years. no comparison. have looked for similar quality. vix is he best. there has never been the case that dreambox is quality. tuners have always been rubbish. always been issues with burn issues with internal hard disks. sharing is a disaster as the card is constantly freezing. can i express something that is positive? sorry if i missed something
