LMAO correct, they even said as much on the BH forum but no matter how many times you tell people the MYTH still exists that certain images have better picture quality over others.

Since it was my post that you all such a laugh, let me ask a question. If I came from an image using a Limux 2 kernel, would I NOT see a difference in picture quality if I switched to Black Pole, which obviously uses the Linux 3 kernel?

The only way your going to know which image best suits you and your setup is by trying them, and with the ability to fully backup a image so that you can return to it you have absolutely nothing to loose by doing so.

However, my point was that I assume I SHOULD see a difference in picture quality if I switched from an Enigma 2 image to an Enigma 3 image. I obviously feel I did, hence my original post, which none of the comics on here took account of before they started to ridicule my post!

they both use different driver sets so it is possible that something has changed between the drivers used in the previous kernel images and the current ones used now, affecting picture quality.

What ever rocks your boat dude, find a image your happy with and go with that. no one here will ever force you to use a image your not comfortable with, after all it's your receiver and it's down to you what goes onto it.

One thing I didn't mention was that I only recently upgraded from a (genuine) DM800 to my Vu+ Duo. I havcen't settled on any image yet, still trying out as many as possible. However, I did think the HD pic on my DM800 as great, but I'm pretty sure the Vu+ Duo picture is definitey better!

I'm glad you like the duo which in my opinion puts almost all DMs to shame. And yes I have read a good deal of your posts on another forum where I'm known as RD. Any hoo you will eventually hit on a image your happy with, after all there are loads to choose from.

Pretty sure I know which forum you refer to and I think I've read some of your posts too! Anyhow, as you say I will eventually settle on an image that suits me. I do like VIX but I'm having a few issues with the latest version, but that's part and parcel of having a Linux box. Lucky for me my wife isn't interested in watchung anything on the box, so it's not the end of the world if it crashes. As I said, I'll keep trying images until I'm happy, but I'm definitely happy with the Vu+ Duo in general.

Is Black Pole (sounds like something out of a porn movie) still in development? I love the OpenPLI base and I also love Black Hole images but avoided them due to bad subtitles on non-OpenPLI images... Have been using VIX on my Uno since receiving last year but would like to try something different

Yes as far as i am aware the BP project is still very much in active development, although the BH is the main priority for the team.
