    satellite coaxial cable smouldering

    ive moved house and a sky dish was already up.so i cut the cable and connected with a joinner to my main dish.this morning picture was breaking up so went outside and checked connections.on the old sky cable side of the joinner what goes to the box it was black and quite warm and smouldering what could have caused that to happen?? ive replaced the old cable with new and joined again.never had that happen to me before and ive done a lot of dishes connections etc in the past ?? any help thx

    The coax was likely badly degraded and waterlogged. The more important thing is wether any damage was done to the box. I would also change the LNB too in case this was the reason for the fault.

    touch wood the box seems ok.yes will change lnb as well but have to say the cable looked old and worn and was single screened thank you
