    Flashing ET5000

Hi ive been trying to flash the new version of vix onto the box but this will not allow me to it, it was previously running vix and now its running on openpli kernel version 3.1.0. I have noticed when i reboot the box i get a vix splash screen and then then openpli comes on and it boots and run perfectly i have noticed the webinterface no longer works for some reason, ive followed the tutorials how how to flash but it does not seem to work is there anything else i can do thanks.

considering yr on openpli 3.1.0 im assuming you flashed teh new bootloder

apart from that its the same procedure to flash vix 2.3

teh splash will remain vix as pli dont have splash and teh box keeps the old splash if no new one is present

the first and foremost thing that needs to be done is flash the new bootloder in vix reelase thread

that is flashed as normal like an image

then after that flash the image vix 2.3

What was your image upgrade VIX2.2>??

The BL is not in the image / update and needs to be flashed separately.

The fact your were on 3.1.0 seems to indicate your bootloader has been updated. If not and you want to run vix 2.3 than BL needs to be flashed and than VIX 2.3.

BL is in the image release thread.

Yes the original image was on vix 2.2 then i upgraded to openpli,i have tried to flash 2.3 but nothing happens when i power up and press the up button on the front of the receiver i just tried loading Bootloader ET5X00 2011-09-29 but nothing happened again its not a massive problem as openpli is very stable but it would be nice to change if i wanted to in the future.

Download the bootloader from the first post here http://www.world-of-satellite.com/sh...2-3-07-12-2011

It literally takes a matter of seconds to flash. Once done flash with the image from the same post.

na your not we shall get your sorted

make sure the bootloder is on the USB stick inside folder et5000

    flash box like this then

    Code:
    Format USB memory stick FAT32.

Create et5000 folder in root of memory stick and copy files to that location.

Insert the USB medium into either USB sockets on the front or rear panel.
Now Power Off and Power On the box through the powerswitch at the rear panel of the box.

After Power On, ET5000 is detecting if there is ET5000 firmware available on the USB stick.
When the yellow/orange led shines then there is ET5000 firmware detected.
To load the ET5000 firmware you'll need to press the up button on the frontpanel.
When the green led will shine together with he yellow/orange led then the box is loading the firmware.
Please be patient because it will take couple of minutes to finish upgrading.
When the yellow/orange led will disappear then the box is finished upgrading the firmware.
The box will startup automatically after the upgrade is finished.

    -Note-
During upgrading, please don't unplug power or shut down STB.
The frontpanel has 3 leds: RED, GREEN, YELLOW/ORANGE
once completed which will litrally take seconds almost as if not happened

then get VIX 2.3 and put on USB but now make sure folder is named et5x00 and put files in there

    then repeat the flash

[make sure the old et5000 folder is deleted infact every time just reformat the usb stick]

it was detecting yr extrenal USB and thinking that was where the image was

in linux drives are mapped via sda

so it must have been yr HDD was sda1 and yr USB sda2 so it looked at sda1 first not found anything and carried on with booting
