    VU Uno OR VU Solo

    Hi,

What is the difference between the UNO and the SOLO please? i see there is about £70 difference but is there any reason why the UNO is better?

Do either box allow for internal HDD? if so are they 2.5 or 3.5?

Does either box allow for MKV support that actually works? (i have a duo but it is hit and miss).

Additionally i could get the ET5000... not had one of these boxes but are they as good as the UNO and Solo?

    Thanks

Some of the features the VU+ Uno has over the Solo: -

    • Newer CPU
    • More Ram
    • Can fit internal 3.5" SATA
    • Modular Tuner
    • Front display
    • Universal remote to control TV and Uno

Solo has none of the above.

Well thats what comes to mind right now

The Uno has and extra USB slot and twin card reader also, boots twice as quick as the solo and looks a whole lot better.
For me the Uno is the best product from Vu so far.

Donnie, can you just outline what a blindscan actually is? If you had £340 quid which box would you get?

    Thanks

All depends if you want single or twin tuner, you really can't go wrong with any of the single tuners mentioned, even the et5000 is a superb single tuner. Suppose it comes down to budget and twin or single tuner.

Blind scan allows you to scan the whole satellite without the need for preset tranasponder data allowing you to pickup channels and feeds not listed on the epg such as test channels etc.

I own both and as Sic has pointed out the main thing is if you need single or twin tuners.

If single is all you need then I would go for the Uno, the hardware improvements over the Duo and Solo make it a great box.

It puts my old 800HD to shame.

Also I would recommend you use the sponsor here as service is A1

i know the 800 owners always bang on about them, i cant believe how poor my 800 is over my VU Duo.

I only need a single tuner so i think i am going to go for the Uno, the et5000 though is a fantastic price as is the solo.

    Uno it is.
