I tried a USB stick on this and it wouyld not work, your best bet is either a usn HDD, set up a network share and record to that

Hey mate. U are able to install a Satan hard drive inside the duo. U need to undo the screws on the case. Then u will find space to place an internal Sata hard drive.

I'd been able to record on to usb memory stick ok, and also to mounted nas drive...

You either need to mount your usb/nas to /media/hdd, or change the default recording location in menu -> setup -> system -> recording paths...
