To record on to USB I assume I will have to format it ext3?

Can I still keep the picons on it if I format as ext3 or is there another way?

yes needs ext3 partition but mount same /media/hdd and yes picons can stay just direct them to /media/hdd

Just go to Menu > System > Harddisk > Initialize harddisk. Then press blue button > ViX Menu > Device manager and make sure the HDD is mapped to /media/hdd

I should gave made it clear its a 16GB usb stick and externak HDD

yes i know u said it ws a usb stick

but in a solo if its the only drive then in effect it should be mounted as a hdd especially if you are plannning on recording movies on it as hdd is the default recording location

if your using both a usb stick and usb hdd then you would mount them as you would a DUO
