good afternoon

i recieved my solo today,
i flashed it with vti v2.0 image and then downloaded cccam and my engima2 channel lists, everything seems to be working but some channels have 0% signal,

now i read a thread about changing drivers but i thought they would be included already in the v2.0 image as that seemed to be a fix for v1.0? should i replace the drivers like you would do on v1.0 on the v2.0?

any help appreciated!

No dont use the drivers from the older VTI image as its OE1.5, they wont be compatible.

Tbh I've not had a chance to test latest VTI image on the Solo, but I know for sure the older image with the updated drivers works well.

thanks for your quick response, i'll flash the older image and then update the drivers, see if that helps

cheers!

hmmm still the same, am looking into it further, seems like its not picking up all tps

after a little more reasearch, it seems that its not recieveing any tps on the H only seems to pick up ones on V,
eg:-
12012 V = all the channels work
11798 H = none of the channels work.
11720 H = none of the channels work
12090 V = all the channels work
hmmm strange as my spiderbox works on all.

Tuner is setup as single + simple on 28.2e and no diseq

is there anyhting else i'm missing?

Are you 100% sure that you replaced the drivers? Did you extract them from the zip file, then ftp them to /lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/extra/ ??

i deleted the ones there and replaced them with the new ones
i restarted the box after it.

i just did it again and still the same.

some of the H channels come through reallly jerky and blocky and some dont come through at all.

if i go on satfinder and search on 11720 H 29500 DVB-S2 QPSK 3/4 the snr just jumps up and down and the agc is around 30-50% and it doenst lock on.
if i search on 12012 V 29500 DVB-S2 QPSK 3/4 the snr is 73% and agc is 50% and it locks

have you checked your lnb??

i'm in apartments, the dish is round the front.

i assume it'll have a quatrro lnb running to a multiswitch which then feeds the apartments.

my dm500s + spiderboxhd work fine, could it still be the lnb?

basilyoung

if other units are working ok, then its not the lnb, but it could be the coax cable at fault, most likely a poor connection,

if there is another sat unit available, use it to test the sig strengths,
this way...it will identify the problem, or discount it

the spiderbox shows signal ok on the tps that show 0 on the solo

i have a dm800hd off a freind aswell that does the same thing as the solo, only thing in common is that they are both engima2 boxs
the boxes that do work arent engima2.

thats the answer that i expected

its not enigma 2 thats at fault,....its your tuner setting i think

go tro manual scan,
try setting the tuner up as dvb_s rather than S2
select say scan a single satellite rather than transponder on say 13 east
and see what comes up

rossi2000

i can only select 28.2 on manual scans

there are no other sats avaialble.

some H channels work like this:-

Five works, Fiver and Five USA dont and there on the same H tp

i do think its a tuner setup issue but ive tried almost every setting i can think of

basilyoung

have you tried scanning in both dvb-s and dvb-s2??

basilyoung
01-09-10, 20:58
also check in advanced settings network scan set to yes

rossi2000
01-09-10, 21:16
yep dvb-s doenst bring them up either

but when i select a channel from my list on a tp that doenst scan the picture is trying to come through sometimes

basilyoung

so this brings us back to signal strength or dodgy connection, but on an enigma 1 unit there are no issues?

as in if you get a piccy, but very poor then the tuner is working
also if you scan it does find the various channels, does it not?

are these free to air channels or encrypted??
if encrypted, is the card local, ie in the unit, or local network, if so there should be no problem
lastly you could try downloading a new channel list, direct from your unit, catseye listings are most likely best

thanks for your input mate, much appreciated
yep engima1 box works fine and the spiderbox 7000hd works fine too

when i do a scan it doenst pick up the channels but becuase i have them already in my listings i can try to view it.
channels are free to air and encrypted that is no problem as everything else on V works and decrypts.

i'll give the channel lists a go see if that helps

ive exhausted all my ideas, not sure what to do now, only got it today and have been messing around since it arrived this morning lol

i might have to get a sat installer / tech dude to have a look, dunno!

basilyoung

if you get a sat installer, be sure that cccam is not running

where are you based (not to accurate, public forum and all that)
there might be some one close by that can help

Maybe was just a case of the lnb cable not being connected corrrectly, or it could be some interference in the cable, in that some of the copper braid is loose or something?!

rossi2000
02-09-10, 12:35
i have 2 cables both which are moulded on each end, i havent made them myself.(bought from b+q and maplins so maybe not the best quality) both give the same results, i connect them to the faceplate in my apartment and then to my box, i also have an inline amplifier aswell which is a slope 13-19.
the cable is run in some trunking along with quite a few other cables like cat6, speaker wire and a subwoofer cable. would these cause interference?

i wonder if a better quality cable would help, the run from the faceplate to the box is about 5 mtrs, but depending on how the apartments are wired from the multiswitch it could be up to 50 mtrs.

Bottom line is ...you are sorted ( for now )

strange one though, but suspect it was a poor connection and it was just co-insidental that it was the enigma 2 units

after testing all day i am still gettinga little glitching on some chans, now with one cable it wont recieve alot of channels. with the other cable they all come through but some can get glitchy now and then i wonder if its interference of some sort or the cable

basilyoung

is the incoming source external? or direct from local source

Try moving the tv straight to where the cables come in to the property, to remove the need of the boosters and the long extension cable... This should help to find out whether it's the boosters or cable length/interference...

You haven't got a cordless telephone running near the sat cable have you mate? They can throw certain channels out. If you have one, unplug it and see if it helps.

rossi2000
04-09-10, 16:38
ive unplugged the phone, its not cordless but ive done it anyway. see how it goes
id need a shorter cable to test the box and tv near the socket on the wall, will see if i can source 1 from somewhere

sometimes i think my mobile phone is causing interference or its just a co-incidence that when it rings or alerts for txts n things it glitches, its wierd

I had a problem that looked like that. I have updated satellites.xml from satellites-xml.eu , re-booted and I let the box search for channels again, -I do not know why- but this solved the problem. Maybe it works for you too.
